This tune is probably my favorite track at the moment. It’s deep in all the right places with a hauntingly groovy vocal sample. If anyone knows where he took the sample from, leave a comment please.
I had never heard of Andy Stott prior to coming across this track on Youtube. Now that i have, he will definitely be a name to remember. This dub influenced low bpm banger, containing a very progressive song structure, is perfect for starting your day off or kicking back and taking in some sunshine. I will be on the lookout for more forward thinking tunes from Andy Stott, as well as the Modern Love label.
And The B-side. Comes equipped with more big bass and haunting reverb.

A remix of body code. This track is not for the faint of heart. Stuff you play at the witching hour.
“Don’t touch me, I’m electric, and if you touch me I’ll shock ya”
Under the Shade (formerly Jisco Music) has been putting out some exceptional releases lately and is one of my favorite labels at the moment. Enter Graeme Clarke (The Revenge) and Harri (James Harrigan) and you’ve got their new collaboration called Burnt Island Casuals.
The track “Scotch Hop” which is a tasteful re-edit of a 1983 track called “Hop Scotch” by Gwen Guthrie (Larry Levan Mix) is slow burning groove that you can’t help but move to. Pure feel good disco style rhythms right here.
Out now on Juno download and beatport, check out an up and coming producer by the name of Jordan Peak.
Title track ‘Gooseneck’ is a muscular peak-time workout that focuses around a solid lock groove bass line and a variety of intermittent chopped vocals. The spoken diva sample provides the only interval from the relentless hook and spine tingling cymbal line. With massive crossover appeal, this floor-friendly offering would be no less at home on terraces as it would at the more upbeat of house night.
‘Playground Rules’, in contrast combines low-fi bass tones and hypnotic vocals with lashings of loose percussion. This groove lead composition perfectly reflects early Chicago and New York in its arrangement whilst utilising sounds geared towards today’s modern systems.
‘You Make Me Better’ is another sophisticated deep house cut armed with multi-layered vocals, a subtle bass line and flashes of Rhodes. Overall this track has a more soulful vibe but still displays Jordan’s obvious ability to keep his audience engaged with persuasive percussion.
Jordan describes his sound as “a mixture of organic drums and synthised melodies combined with a healthy dose of low end frequencies; deep, hypnotic, far-out grooves which join the dots between house and techno”.
History
Jordan hails from jolly old england, Portsmouth to be exact, and at that the age of 23 is a resident for headspace held at the public life in London. He’s already got upcoming releases on labels like Smoke City, Escapism Musique, Assembly Records, Cubism, Felinephonix, I-Pocket Records.
Check this unsigned track called Jordan Peak – Close to The Floor In true old school fashion, Jordan lays down a chugging house groove and litters it with tasty disco samples for good measure.
